Tyrone is a student at Patterson Park High School in Hairspray's fictionalized version of Baltimore. He is also a dancer on The Corny Collins Show during their monthly Negro Day special.

Tyrone is first seen seen dancing in detention with a young woman.[1]
He is friends with Seaweed and the other Negro Day dancers, joining with them in "Run and Tell That" and heading down with them to Motormouth Record Shop for Maybelle's potluck.[2]
