The Har-de Har Hut (spelled Hardy Har Hut in Hairspray (2007)) is a joke shop in Hairspray's fictionalized version of Baltimore. It is owned by Wilbur Turnblad and located under his family's apartment.
After Tracy Turnblad becomes a hit on The Corny Collins Show, The Hardy Har Hut becomes the exclusive provider of Tracy merchandise, including wigs, dolls, and woopie cushions.
In the 2007 film, an irate Velma Von Tussle visits the shop with the intention of seducing Wilbur, breaking up Tracy's family, and having Tracy removed from the show by her mother. She is unsuccessful, however, Edna does catch Velma and Wilbur in a compromising position, leading to turmoil between the Turnblads.
