Shahadi Wright Joseph is an American actress and singer known for her roles in Us (2019), Hairspray Live! (2016), and The Lion King (2019).[1] She played Inez Stubbs in the 2016 NBC special, Hairspray Live![2]
Career[]
Wright got her start a baby model for Fisher Price.[3] By 2, she was taking dance classes.[3] At 9, she premiered on Broadway as Young Nala in The Lion King.[4] She would later be asked to reprise this role for the 2019 adaptation, co-starring alongside Beyonce, Donald Glover, and James Earl Jones.[5]
At 10, Wright originated the role of Madison for Broadway's School of Rock.[4] From this point forward, her career shifted towards film, landing several prominent roles.[1]
Current Work[]
Wright recently released her first single, Wallpaper, in June of 2020.[6] She also has a role in an upcoming movie, Come Find Me.[7]
