"I feel the show should be integrated - everyday."
-Nadine Carver
Nadine Carver is a student at Eastern High School and a dancer on The Corny Collins Show's segregated monthly special, "Negro Day."
Hairspray (1988)[]
Nadine auditioned along with Penny Pingleton and Tracy Turnblad for the open spot on The Corny Collins Show's Council. She auditioned because she thought that the show should be integrated.
Despite being a talented dancer, Tammy Turner and the council members only focused on the color of her skin, insisting that she couldn't truly relate to the music of white artists.
Trivia[]
Nadine Carver only appears in the original 1988 film, Hairspray. In subsequent versions, particularly in the musical, her role is filled by Inez Stubbs.
