Detention Groove
Detention is where Tracy Turnblad is sent to by Miss Wimsey as a punishment for skipping school to audition and is always sent there for her hair height. Tracy discovers the "Negro Day" kids practicing in the detention room and befriends Seaweed (Elijah Kelley), the students' best dancer and Motormouth Maybelle's son, who teaches Tracy several dance moves.
Later in the film, Mr. Flak sends Tracy to detention when Amber frames Tracy of drawing a picture of him with breasts. He also gives Link Larkin detention for saying "Kiss my ass."
