"(It's) Hairspray" is the seventh song in Act II of Hairspray. It functions as the opening for the Miss Teenage Hairspray pageant.

This song takes place at the Baltimore Eventorium as part of The Corny Collins Show Spectacular.
Unique to the musical, Brenda reappears to take part in the pageant, singing the exiting notes.

The opening of the song is a bit different for this version, because the event is held at WYZT instead of the Baltimore Eventorium, which is not mentioned in the film. Instead of being held for the first time on national television, the event is being held in front of a live studio audience. Finally, there is no mention of the pageant being part of a bigger event. Instead, the pageant is the main event.
"And now, broadcast live in front of a live studio audience for the first time from the certified, up-to-code WYZT Studio, it's the Corny Collins Miss Hairspray Spectacular!"
Another change is how this scene follows "Without Love" instead of "I Know Where I've Been." So instead of the event being set to a backdrop of protestors outside, the crowds outside are just trying to get into the show.
In Hairspray (2007), Corny is introduced by Vicki and Lou Ann.
